Jonathan David & Melissa Helser
“There is no room in love for fear. Well-formed love banishes fear. Since fear is crippling, a fearful life—fear of death, fear of judgment—is one not yet fully formed in love. “
– 1 John 4:18b (The Message)
You unravel me, with a melody
You surround me with a song
Of deliverance, from my enemies
Till all my fears are gone
I’m no longer a slave to fear
I am a child of God
From my Mothers womb
You have chosen me
Love has called my name
I’ve been born again, into your family
Your blood flows through my veins
You split the sea so I could walk right through it
My fears are drowned in perfect love
You rescued me and I will stand and sing
I am a child of God
With our constant reminders, both from within and without the church, that there is death and shame around every corner, I think it’s easy to forget the truth about ourselves. We are not simply a collection of random atoms that serve no purpose and pose no great benefit to existence. We are daughters and sons of Love; not enemies, not acquaintances, not even good friends. Sons. Daughters. When singing this song, remember that whatever fear you have (even fear that is normal and valid) should be no match for the comfort we have in our true identity. -Matt Greene
